BACKGROUND
As the 21st century progresses, we come to realise that the police can do their job of controlling crime far more effectively if they can rely on community participation.
Preventing crime is no longer a task just for our hardworking police, but a responsibility, which lands at every doorstep - yours and mine. It is in our own interests. We must not forget that more than 90 per cent of crime is against property.
The success of schemes such as the Neighbourhood Watch shows that a community working together can generate security and confidence, which deters criminals.
We also encourage you to accept the challenge to make your community safer. By participating in crime prevention you will make Sarawak a better and safer place to live in.
